Firmmware update failure Canon EOS 6D

Despite following the download an application instructions assiduously, I keep receiving this error message:  

"Firmware Update Program: Update File Error. Please check the memory card and reload the battery and try again."

I have also reinitialised the data card, without success in updating the latest FIR.

How do I go about overcoming this issue with my Canon 6D?

IN the absence of a solution I have shipped the camera back to Canon to let them resolve it.

Make sure there is no other files on the SD card.  The FW update is in the root folder?  Yes, no?

D/L the FW update to a Windows computer. Extract it.  Put that file on the SD card.  Keep in mind if you screw this up your camera will turn into an expensive brick or paper weight!  If there is no good reason to update the FW, don't do it.
