Eos R- Strange vertical banding- help!

djentzen

Hey all,

First post here, amateur really enjoying my new R. But I saw these weird vertical bands in a comet picture from last month:

RF 24-105 f4L, 30 seconds at f4, ISO 1600, exposed up in Lightroom. The banding seems to appear mostly when I alter white balance or saturation.

Thoughts? Thank you!!

Dynamic row noise. 5D IV, EOS R, 1D X II, 80D, M5, M6 etc. It seems that Canon fixed the problem with its latest sensor generation.

Send me the raw file if you want me to try to remove the banding.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it.

I read those links too. Looks like you've been really helpful to others with the same situation. Thank you.

Can you say a little more about Dynamic Row Noise? Why is it random? What causes it?

Have you heard anything about Canon fixing this? Is it even fixable with firmware?

Thank you!

I have links to other web pages about dynamic row noise, but the links would be removed from here due to forum rules.

It is able to fix with firmware, but it may slow down the camera. I don't think Canon care about these old cameras anymore.

I am trying to make the script from A1ex (Magic Lantern) a little bit more user friendly, but it takes time.
