How long have you been using this lens. How long have you owned it. These older Quantaray lenses have some incompatibilities on digital cameras. But work fine on film cameras. Canon changed how the AF and aperture control works. This usually causes that error message on digital cameras and late EOS film bodies. Canon’s own older film era don’t have this problem at all.

What is the Full name of the lens that IS WORKING CORRECTLY. Canon hasn’t made a 29-95mm lens. A full name would be Canon EF 28-90mm F/4-5.6 III lens.

How long have you had this Quantaray lens for. Lens communication error could be a bad flex cable in the lens. Have you checked the contacts on the lens to make sure that it still looks shiny and not discolored. I don’t believe they even make lenses anymore or repair them. What is the full name of the lens that has the problem. That EF 28-90mm F/4-5.6 III lens was used as a kit lens for 35mm Film Rebel series cameras for years. So it won’t have an ideal focal length for a Digital Rebel series camera. Since the image sensor is 1.6x smaller than 35mm film. But it will still work though.

What is the focal length of the lens. If it’s a zoom lens it will say for “90-300mm” if it’s a prime or fixed focal length lens. It will say for instance “100mm” only because it doesn’t zoom.

It says Af 70-300mm

The lady who had it before me had it for about five years and I just recently got it last month it so what happens is it works when I can take a photo but then I have to turn my camera off and back onto to see the image

The problem specifically is how the aperture control works. The aperture motor in the lens is drawing too much power. Older film era lenses from Canon worked by Autofocusing and then stopping down the lens aperture sequentially. But newer lenses do both actions at the same time and don’t draw too much power. So the only fix is to look into a Canon lens. Canon has the EF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS II USM lens. This is a great lens optically and has a very fast AF motor. If you do look into replacing that lens. It could potentially cause the camera to be in a permanent locked up state and you can’t fix that. If you do look into replacing the lens stay away from any of the Canon EF 75-300mm lens lineup. It’s a very poor lens optically, lacks image stabilization and uses a very slow AF motor. 70-300mm lens lineup fixes all of these problems.
