I bought a used T7 with the kit lenses. Also bought a new Canon 50mm STM prime lens. With ALL of my lenses, AF photos are more likely to be blurry than not. (The photo below is sort of a sample of what I often get.)
I've tried using tripods, ensuring my AF area is set correctly (it's centered), making sure I have ISO/aperture/shutter speeds adequate, etc. With my old Nikon, I did the half-press thing to focus, then shifted the camera's target, then finished the shot and never had a problem that I didn't initially cause. But I can't even get dead-on targets to be consistently in focus with this body.
Manual shots are fine and I have done some astrophotography with a Rokinon 135 and got very good results.
Since I'm having the problem with all lenses, I expect something is going on in the camera. Is this something that Canon's Alignment Service can rectify? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? (I don't need to send in my lenses as a 'factory' reset will likely get me 'good enough' and the quote comes in at $139, which I'm willing to pay.)
Thanks for any feedback.

UPDATE: Canon e-mail support was VERY quick to at least address the issue. They said that they would put in a request at the factory service center to adjust the price, but that it COULD take a few days to resolve.
The difference might be that rather than just asking for the alignment service, which does not include any necessary repairs, - from website "If it is determined repairs are needed during inspection, a separate charge will apply to each applicable product that is outside its warranty period."
You stated an actual problem and Canon has a tiered system for repairs - for your camera the $179 would include any necessary parts.
It's all initially processed by computer. In past dealings I found that when they actually got the device and examined it the quote was adjusted as appropriate. I had a lens that I dropped and the IS module got jammed. I gave it a rap with palm of my hand and it freed up but I wanted Canon to check it. I sent it in with a report of malfunctioning IS and got a tiered repair quote. When it was examined by the repair tech it was verified to be functioning properly and returned no charge.

So I was sending it in for a repair to the autofocus, but maybe shouldn't have actually stated that there was a problem with the autofocus? 😄
I do understand they they may need to revise a quote if something unforeseen was discovered. But I was just sending it in for an AF issue which matched the problem description and sample photos they have on their page dedicated to the Precision Alignment Service.
Are you saying that you got a tiered repair quote, agreed to it, and then they never charged you? It would be kind of poor practice to quote me one price on their site ($139), get the product and send me a follow-up quote ($179), then end up charging me a third price when all was said and done.
FWIW, the quote only shows labor and shipping/handling. There are no parts listed.

Hopefully that works out. There could be a good reason for the different amount,or not. One would hope they'd have no problem refunding you later if they're wrong.
All the best. I hope your temper doesnt hit the rev limiter like mine did this week😂 (utterly moronic post office policies and/or practices. Some of the dumbest sh*t i've ever heard)

UPDATE: After a few days, I did receive an email from the support staff, but it was not what I expected.
The good news is that the price was adjusted - down to $99?! That's a pleasant surprise (I think). The bad news is that they charged my card and began the repair without my authorization. I just received a receipt for the repair and that was it. Indeed, I have no problem with the quote and definitely would have had the work done. But I was planning on waiting a few days to initiate the process because I am out of state and there may not be anyone at my house when the camera is delivered.
Hmmm. The process continues.
