EOS Rebel T6 Faulty Camera Lens Error

IllinoisCasey

My camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T6, keeps giving me Error 01 (shown below)

IMG_2501.jpeg

after putting a lens on. The preview of the image seems to work fine; when I click the shutter button, the camera keeps posting Error 1 to the screen. I have tried everything, cleaning the sensor, cleaning the pins, cleaning the actual lens pins, cleaning the mirror, with a microfiber cloth. Is this a software or hardware issue?

Thank you in advance.

What lens are you using please use the FULL NAME of the lens in question. Saying for instance "Canon EF 24-105mm" isn't a complete name. Canon has released multiple lenses with that name. The name can be found on the outer ring of the lens after removing the lens cap. Or on the outer ring above the lens cap. I've posted some example pictures below to help finding the FULL NAME of your lens.

Lens I'm currently using is a Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS II. Also have a Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 II that seems to not work. Seems to be a camera problem rather than a lens problem.

How does that other lens not work please describe.

Same problem as first lens mentioned

IllinoisCasey,

I don't know if this will help or not, but it's something you could check:

Hit your menu button and choose the first menu Option. It's the red one that has a little icon of a camera on it.

Scroll down to the menu setting for something called Peripheral Illum. correct. Hit your set button.

Does the name of your lens appear? If it doesn't, change the setting to Enable.

See if that helps.
