EOS Rebel SL1 How to access mode settings

Hello,

I have a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 and when I click on the button with the camera icon on it the first time I see the settings appear. I should be able to press it a 2nd time and see the mode settings on the screen. However, it goes black when I do it the 2nd time. Is there a setting or something I can do to make that screen appear? The other Canon EOS SL1 has this function and displays the correct screens. I included a photo of what the 2nd screen should look like. Any help would be appreciated.

Steve,

Thank you for responding. I went ahead and reset the camera back to default settings. I'm still having the issue 😞

Can you show us what the camera does show?

Hi! I created this account specifically to reply to your post! I realize it's been 8 months since you created this thread, so hopefully you've got it working by now; but I was having the same issue, and was so frustrated reading all the gaslighting replies you received previously... for the record let me just relay what I was shouting at my monitor while I read each reply that didn't bother to read anyone else's reply: "YES, WE KNOW THAT PUSHING THE LIVE VIEW BUTTON PUTS IT INTO LIVE VIEW MODE... BUT, WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU PUSH THE LIVE VIEW BUTTON WHILE ALREADY IN LIVE VIEW MODE??? *GASP* IT TAKES YOU TO A DIFFERENT SCREEN! THE SCREEN IN QUESTION NO LESS, WOW!"

Anyway, lol, sorry. But I did figure it out! The problem that I was having, was because the new eyecup that I recently replaced, was setting off the face proximity sensor over the viewfinder. The default info-and-settings screen that the camera boots into(as opposed to the live view screen) stays off when your face is close, so you don't set off the touchscreen/ruin your night vision. I'd check to see if your sensor is obscured!

Maybe we'll find out what the fix was for the original poster, maybe not.

But in any case, you certainly are rude.
