EOS R7 will not turn on

Photofanatic

I bought the camera new and have had it for 3 days. I updated the firmware to 1.6 and used it for a few sessions. I was taking some pictures of some birds and pressed the photo review button to see the images on the touch screen when it lost power and will not turn back on. I have tried charging and replacing the battery, replaced the memory card, changing/checking lens connections. I left the camera in the power on position over night without a battery, memory card or lens attached hoping it would power back on this morning and no luck.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a reasonable solution? I’m worried that I will have to try to send the camera to Canon which will be a massive inconvenience.

Thank you

Greetings,

Day 3 of camera ownership... Go ahead and contact Canon but if the camera is not 100% I'd contact the retailer and exchange it.

You best bet is to reach out to Canon support for assistance.

Hi, Photofanatic!  To clarify, 1-800-652-2666 (which spells 1-800-OK-CANON) reaches our tech support team while 1-800-385-2155 reaches our sales team.

I did and they were very helpful thank you

I contacted Canon and they were as helpful as could be and ultimately returned the camera to the vendor. I was hoping for a DIY solution or a repair from Canon because now I will be purchasing another R7 hoping not to encounter the same problem. Thanks for your advice
