EOS R6 Photo Rating Bug

Nitzang

Hello, we all have a big bug in camera canon r6 whech is saved raiting photo information.

If you are a stills photographer , and take a photo , and rate it (in the camer menu **) .
And when you shooting raw, and you transfer the photos to your pc - you can`t see the rating while you edit it or view the image (lightroom / acdsee / photomecanic / windows viewer).
Just After you Export the files, the raw files to jpg - Then more metadata information arrived like flag or raiting.

For me its a big problem,
i will glad to know what is your opinion and if you know a way to solve it.

Thank You

Not a bug in the camera. Canon’s DPP can read the ratings set in the R6, as well as every other DSLR and MILC they make.  Third party products cannot. This is old hat.

You could use exiftool to restore metadata trashed by other software.

To copy metadata from CR3 file to JPEG file:
exiftool -tagsfromfile /Volumes/EOS_DIGITAL/DCIM/100CANON/IMG_0595.CR3 IMG_0595-0612c.JPG

To display the rating:
exiftool -'*rating*' -G0:2 *.CR3

To display the checkmark:
exiftool -'*checkmark*' -G0:2 *.CR3

https://exiftool.org/ has the free software.

Works for me with M5 and darktable/RawTherapee/Lightroom/DPP4. Do you have some raw samples from R6?
