EOS R6 Mark II not booting

Earlier today I was shooting and the original battery started to warn (red blinking battery icon) so I popped the battery and replaced it with a somewhat older LP-E6N. Since then the camera is completely dead.

When I insert a (charged) battery and hold my ear against the body I can hear 2 sounds: something that sounds like the IBS starting up (mechanical "klunk" like sound) and a surring sound like a fan. The screen stays black and the camera does not respond to any buttons.

Any tips?

Sorry Tim

That post got crossed with another thread.

No worries, your efforts are appreciated even if they were incorrect in this case.

Thanks for trying to help!

Definitely would discourage you from switching batteries (or lenses) with the camera turned on you can really cause a short.  I was answering you on a cell phone, on a train at rush hour, so things did not go well!  The comment about switching lenses is more of a bonus advisory.

You can turn off sensor cleaning and just do that as you wish, even assigning it to first place on a custom menu for fast access.  Better that and turn off the camera to switch batteries or lenses than risk killing your camera.

I wish you luck with the check, but hope this time will serve as a cautionary experience.

Got a notification that someone asked if my problem was solved. Can't find the reply but I'll reply anyway. No - my problem has not been solved yet. It is currently at my local Canon Repair Center, they gave me an estimate of 6 weeks for repair. I'll update when I get it back.

I'm currently using my old 5Diii until I get the R6ii back.
