The camera image sensor IBIS will make rattle sound when you remove a lens. Make sure to always turn off the camera before you remove or install a lens.
Above all, don’t shake the camera to make it rattle. I keep a lens mounted at all times.

Mine rattles too. Works just fine. Don't worry, just enjoy shooting.

Are you using RF lenses, or EF adapted lenses? I use EF lenses, with a Canon adapter, of course. I leave the mount adapter on the body. I don’t think I have ever heard a rattle.
I always turn off power when changing lenses. I almost always have a lens mounted when I store the camera in my bag.

@Waddizzle Actually I use both EF and RF lenses. I saw a post here several months ago about rattling, otherwise I never would have thought to check and with my hearing loss would probably have never noticed. It always has an RF lens on it when not in use. It seems like both lenses with IS and camera with IBIS are prone to rattle a bit. I just checked the one time, heard it and moved onto ignoring it. I agree that it's probably not best to shake either lens or camera intentionally or, certainly, not violently.
Just out of curiosity I picked it up with the RF 70-200 L USM Z on it and the camera rattles a bit. I didn't notice the lens making any noise, but I seem to recall some do.

I know this. I'm not a novice and have had many different cameras a few of which are Canon. It's not the rattle of the IBIS when you pick up the camera before you turn it on. But instead, after the camera has been turned of (or never turned on) when you detach the lens, it makes a sound like a cat purring, not a rattle, like something electronic. But thanks for your reply though.

it's not a rattle. it's more of an electronic noise that sounds sort of like a cat purring and only does it when you remove the lens AFTER the camera has been turned off.

Not a rattle....

It's not a rattle, it's more of a purring sound, like a cat, when you remove the lens AFTER the camera has been turned off or never even turned on. It only makes the sound when you detach the lens. And again, it's not the IBIS rattle. I"m not a novice and this is the only camera I've had that does it. I took it back to the store where I purchased it and compared it to a brand new one they had and theirs didn't make the same sound.

I suggest getting an exchange. Or, have Canon repair it.
