Hey I just got a canon a week ago, and I was shooting yesterday and all the sudden the spinning dial stopped working and now I can’t scroll or set aperture, any tips/advice what to do . I tried powering off/ changing batteries but still doesn’t work after 24 hours.

jaxsonb2020,

So, what camera did you get?

And what are you calling the "spinning dial"? Are you talking about the main Control wheel?

What mode are you shooting in?

If you are in the A (or automatic) mode, the Control wheel won't let you change the aperture, or any of the other settings.

Hi , I’m on the canon r6 mk2 and I am on manual and yes I’m talking about the main control it won’t work for anything I can’t even scroll in the menu or even look through my pictures.

Jaxsonb2020,

I'm not sure what to tell you. If you hit your Playback button and then turn your Control wheel on the back, it should cycle through your pictures. You can also hit your Playback button and cycle through your pictures by swiping your finger across the screen.

If you are in Manual shooting mode, you should be able to change the aperture and shutter speed. Are your batteries fully charged?

If these aren't working, you may have a defective camera. I'm at a loss.

Did you buy it new or used? Contact the seller or vendor.

Greetings,

Just so we're all talking the same language 😂

Main dial = wheel behind the shutter button

Mode dial = Dial on top of camera that selects shooting mode

Quick Control dial = Dial on rear of camera to right of LCD.

If your main dial has stopped functioning, please answer @Waddizzle's question in regards to purchase status "new vs used".  Hopefully you have recourse.

It is also possible to disable the main dial using the Multifunction Lock option.

Greetings ,

If that's the case and you've confirmed you haven't unintentionally locked it, with the Multifunction lock option or switch, I would perform a factory reset of your main and custom settings.  Then retest without making changes except for setting PIN, date and time.

If the behavior continues. I'd contact the place of purchase.
