I have a Canon R6, and a few weeks ago I was trying to take a photo against a sunset. I exposed for the background and turned on the flash, but no matter what I did, the exposure looked completely wrong. It honestly made me question my ability to take a photo.
Out of curiosity, I switched to my R6 Mark II, used the exact same settings, and the exposure was perfect. That’s when I realized the problem might be with my R6’s LCD. (I’m aware of the brightness settings in the menu, and I checked those.)
When I looked through the R6’s viewfinder, the exposure matched what I expected—it was spot on.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be that my LCD needs replacing, or is there a setting I might be overlooking?

The original EOS R6 doesn’t support Exposure Simulation with flash. So you cannot rely on it to set your exposure it will display an underexposed image. The EOS R6 Mark II however can do this with the latest firmware version. What flash are you using Canon or a 3rd Party flash. Please provide the full model of the flash in use. What mode are you shooting in ie (M, Av, Tv, Fv, P & A+). The flash system works differently depending on what mode the camera is set to Fill Flash vs Main Light.
