EOS R50 Overheating

Hello,

For starters, I’m brand new to owning a camera. I just received my refurbished EOS R50 from canon last week and have been SO excited about it.

A couple days ago, I was playing with the settings on my camera to get familiar with them and snapping pictures of my daughter to get a feel for what I was doing. I took no more than 30 pictures, and the overheating symbol popped up on my screen.

Now today, I was taking pictures at a basketball game and about 50 photos in, the overheating symbol was back on the screen.

I’m extremely disappointed that I’m barely using it and this is happening. What could be causing it? I read that videoing for too long can cause it to overheat, but I’m just taking photos. And I’m also not in a hot environment.

Since the camera is refurbished, could it be due to that? If so, it was still $650+, which is far too much for the camera to be overheating so easily.

I read tips for cooling the camera down when this happens, but I didn’t just invest all this money to have to do this for very basic, minimal use.

Any advice or guidance that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Overheating after 50 pictures is not normal. I suggest you call canon.
