EOS R5: Video recording blocked ("00:00" warning) in stills mode even though C3 recording-mode works

Since upgrading to the 2.1.0 firmware for my EOS R5, hitting the record button in stills mode no longer works, and I have to annoyingly hit multiple buttons to switch to video mode (I use C3 anyway) in order to be able to record.

I've seen that this can be due to using settings incompatible with an SDCard, but in that case the C3 movie mode wouldn't work either and show the same "00:00" warning. In my case, C3 recording works fine, plus I am just using a CFExpress card. I'm not sure if its related, but I just noticed also that tinkering with my settings in C3 such as digital image stabilization, 4K HQ mode, or Canon Log settings, all get reset when leaving and returning to the mode.

Full reset didn't help—it turns out this is just a bug. This is due to the "Record func+card/folder sel." setting not having consistent behavior in stills/video mode. In the C3 movie recording settings, if "Rec options" are set to "Rec. to multiple", then in stills mode it will completely prevent recording unless both cards are inserted. Even though the same record-to-multiple setting in stills mode allows you to take shots after a warning is displayed, recording is just fully disabled.

I believe this is completely contrary to user expectation and should be fixed, but for now I just switched the video mode setting to auto-switch the card.

I suggest performing a full reset of the camera.
