I tried to factory reset my canon and update the firmware but since I bought the camera (about a year ago) everything is fine besides this constant message I get especially when reviewing the images ""MODE: Movie <--> still switching (I am not switching any modes at all when this message occurs) How can I fix this?

When was the last time you formatted the memory cards?
Are you only capturing stills? No electronic shutter high speed bursts?

That message is an FYI and as far as I know, can not be disabled.
The R5 II stores stills and videos in separate folders. Although after pressing the playback button, you can still scroll through both video and stills, you can press the [MODE] button at any time and the camera will switch to one view or the other (folders) so you can see all of your stills or all of your videos. The camera will auto change folders when you've viewed all. Anyway, the message is just reminding you that by pressing MODE you can switch between viewing videos or stills.
I mainly shoot stills and either ignore the FYI for a few seconds or press the magnifier 🙂
