EOS R5 Cannot set Stop Focus search to ON

I’m using a Canon R5 camera with Canon rf 100-500 lens.  I Shoot in Manual mode.  In AF menu 4, I cannot set the option “Stop Focus search to ON”.  The option is there in the menu and it is NOT grayed out.  When I select it and press the set button it goes back to the menu 4 list with the “Stop Focus search to ON” set to Off.  The camera does not indicate that any other setting is preventing the option from being set.  I have tried setting the option in TV, AV and Manual and it doesn't work in either.

My Operating system is the current version of windows 10.

Thank you for your assistance.

The setting you are seeing is a sub level of the Lens drive when AF impossible. This setting has two options ON and OFF. When you press set to select one of these, then the two choices are expanded to show  Continue focus search ON and Stop focus search OFF. You can either choose the stop focus search or continue focus search they correspond to the OFF and ON respectively.

Lens drive when AF impossible setting determines what the camera does when it was tracking a subject and then loses it. With continue focus search (the default) the camera starts driving the lens over it entire focus range to try and find a subject. With stop focus search the camera does not move the lens, and you have to lift off the focus button and press it again to start it searching.

Here's the screen grabs from my EOS R6 which has the same function and menus here. Pressing the INFO button displays the help for this function.
