EOS R10 Tips for Shooting Into A Fog Or Haze

Cantrell
Rising Star

All,

I have a R10 and was using the RF-s 18-150mm lens. I was shooting Aperture priority. Last week we were on a cruise ship in Puerto Vallarta Bay and there was a fog along the shore line. In some areas the fog was thick and other places it was light. I was attempting to take pictures of the shoreline with the fog. In the light fog areas I was able to get the picture, but in heavy fog areas I was not able to get a picture. I adjusted the f stops to no avail. I switched to Manual mode and still was not successful getting a picture. Any tips or suggestions on trying to take pictures of a fog? Thank you in advance.

I am guessing you had camera set to AF and camera was unable to focus because there wasn’t enough contrast.

As advised, switch to MF and try to find an area to focus on, even if it isn’t part of your planned composition.

Set the lens on MF, manual focus.  There will be times when you cannot capture a given shot

Waddizzle,

Thank you for your response.

jrhoffman75,

Thank you for your response. You are correct about having it set to AF.
