Hello dear canon community
Does anybody know if there os anyway to keep active exposure simulation on the R series while using flash?.
I know, no flash can be simulated, I'm aware of that, what I'm after is to make the camera simulate exclusively for the Ambien light, while i use flash (ocf).
I have looked for several days online, and apparently i can't be done, if this is true.... Why would canon do something so... Stupid really, to their cameras?, turn their mirrorless basically into dslrs again if you want to add a touch of flash to an image.

My advice is to always use the camera in Manual mode when using any flash. With the flash, (or trigger), in the hotshoe, and exposure simulation enabled, just turn off the flash (or trigger) momentarily to get an idea of the ambient lighting exposure.
This should work for both DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras.

It is what I've been doing, but it is so inconvenient.
I feel like going backwards with new tech, back to the dslr era...
Yeah, that's it, it feels lika a stepback

Manual mode is great. But i can imagine wedding photographers may not appreciate then camera going into DSLR mode and they need to recheck and correct each shot. With the risk to blow up exposure, just because they was thinking exposure is correct by looking at viewfinder.

The "workaround" I found is to use a button on the camera to switch the flash on/off. On my EOS R6 Mark II I can configure a button to do this with custom controls, and for the EOS R10 the camera has a button assigned on the right of the cross keys to do this. I cannot find a way to do the same for the original EOS R6 though.

I have now an r8, the story is the same, i wish canon would give us a second exposure simulation option, one that does not deactivate with the use of on camera / trigger flash, si we can easily and quickly nail our ambient exposure and add the slightest touch of flash.

The best way to pass that request to Canon is use the feedback link on the main Canon U.S.A. website
