EOS 90D - Can't see through multiple lenses

Scornett
Contributor

I presume, or hope, it is a setting. I can't see through the lens on my D90. I can see on the display, but not through the lens. Plus, either way, the little button you push to make a picture doesn't work right. Even when I'm looking at the display, I can't take a picture. Any help?

Turn the camera on with the lens off. If the mirror goes up then live view or movie mode is more than likely on. This prevents viewfinder operation.

It is a D90. I've tried various lens. This is my first camera with the lcd screen. If the camera is turned off, I can see through the old viewfinder. When I turn it on, I can only see the image on the lcd screen. AND, the "take a picture" button doesn't work either way.

And the lens?

Various lens. The one now is the 24-105 IS

But I've tried several others. My 35-350 doesn't work, either.

Take off the lens with the camera turned off. Is the mirror up or down?

Not sure if it's up or down.😁 But it is in the same position as the mirror on my old 7d, which is working fine

And with the lens off, I can see through the viewfinder ok.
