Please provide more info: 1. computer type, 2. operating system, 3. any changes between when it worked and now? What software are you calling "eos pro". (Maybe Web Connect Utility)?

1. I use a desktop, 2. operating system is windows 11 . 3 nothing changed one day it stopped working as camera and started recognized as ssd, hard drive,  and yes i am trying to use Web Connect Utility the latest version but my computer froze midway when i try to install it.

AMD, Intel or Snapdragon processor on your desktop?  Are you 100% positive that there was no Windows 11 update between days?  What date is your latest Windows 11 update in your update history?  Mine is being installed right after I type this and reboot.

OK, so my latest updates to Windows 11 were 1/15/2026, 1/25/2026, and 2/5/2026.  Do those come close to matching yours and/or are you up to date on your updates?

You might need to do a clean download of the latest version and a clean reinstall.   Stole the items below from the online AI, but think they are correct.  You'll need to make make all files and folders visible in Options in Windows File Explorer on the View tab first to see all of these I think.  Choose "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" there on that tab.

  • Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming.
  • Delete the folders EOS Webcam Utility and EOS-Webcam-Utility (Note: AppData is a hidden folder).
  • Navigate to C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Temp and delete any Canon-related files

Once you get rid of all the files, reboot and do a fresh install.

Check this setting. It directs Windows what to do when it detects a USB device. You want it set to “Take No Action” when it detects your camera.

Good catch Wadizzle.  That should be the first step and I overlooked it and got focused on the reinstall.  Thanks.

Thanks, man!

Something else I forgot to mention and point out.  Only one app at a time can access the camera. This means if File Explorer is looking at the camera SD card, then all other apps are blocked out. This could also be an issue,
