EF-S 24mm experience

Hi folks

I have an EOS90D and live in the North of England. I bought an EFS 24 mm lens a couple of years ago, mainly for street work. It has however, has little use as my family of lenses has grown. Today, I dusted it off and did some more reading and realised that I have a great bit of kit, that didn't cost a fortune and is extremely light and versatile. I'm not sure it will knock my nifty fifty off its perch, but its certainly a great day out lens.

Just wanted to share that with you and wondered if any of you guys have experienced the 24mm.

I have no EFS lenses, but a good lens is a good lens.

I despise the nifty 50 with every fiber of my being and have for decades. That said--ironically--my current favorite lens is my 45mm f1.2 i.e. the "same" thing as a nifty 50.

Go have fun with the EFS 24mm and share some shots. If it's acting as a muse, run with it.

I enjoy using the EF-S24mm f2.8 STM a great deal. I would highly recommend the lens for anyone using a crop sensor camera.

I guess its easy for such a small lens to get swamped in a bigger family!

That said here's some shots from last night and this morning in a dull grey climate. I think the lens coped well with my Yorkie, who doesn't pose for pictures- even on his 4th birthday!

Hi Lee

Your lens hadn't crossed my radar. f/1.2 is seriously fast. As my experience grows, I am now paying much more attention to the f number. I imagine it out performs the 50!

 In the studio!

Sorry I chopped his ear off.

Great portrait.

Thanks Lee

Only realised later that I should have switched to AI Servo because dogs are not very good at sitting still.

Another learning point!

There is always more to learn with these cameras. My R8 threw a massive tantrum when the battery got low. A new battery remedied the situation, but I also did a full reset for good measure. The reset put the ISO to 200 and I had to re-educate myself on which menu ISO lived so I could let the camera set ISO as it wanted because I've not been let down with auto ISO.
