Does the EOS R6 Mark II warranty work in other countries?

I purchased a Canon R6 Mark II on Amazon yesterday as I’m planning to travel around the world next month. If the camera has any issues, can it be repaired for free in other countries, such as Japan, China, or Egypt?

You should contact Canon directly at 1-800-OK-CANON.

Hi, Sean_Shawn!  Thanks for picking up the EOS R6 Mark II.  Your camera should have come with a card spelling out the warranty details.  In a nutshell, if you bought the camera from a Canon authorized dealer in the USA or Canada, the warranty is only valid within those two countries.  In order for that warranty to apply to a repair, the camera would need to be serviced by Canon USA or Canon Canada.

If you try to get your camera serviced elsewhere in the world by another Canon division, it will be entirely at their discretion whether to repair your camera for free as a courtesy or to charge you.

For the full text of your camera's warranty, go HERE and click the heading that says "Warranty Info."

Hope this clears things up!

In general a Canon warranty is "regional" so a USA warranty is valid in the USA only, and the same for most other regions of the world. European warranty covers a lot of countries since Canon Europe sells products in a huge number of countries and they are covered under a single European warranty.

The difference between warranty repair and repairs to user inflicted damage are important to note, and none of the manufacturer warranties provided by Canon covers user inflicted damage.

Repaired, yes. Free, probably not.
