Greetings,

The resolution of the photo is not really good enough to determine the condition or extent of damage.

What happened to it?  If the sensor is physically scratched or damaged, it has to be replaced.

Greetings,

If that is some sort of residue, I'd look at cleaning the sensor properly.  Swabs, cleaning solution, etc.  Its delicate, so it has to be done with care.

If those are abrasions, this will be a very expensive lesson.  For future, you never ever touch the sensor.  First attempt should always be with a rocket blower, "air puffer", holding the body in a downward orientation and very gently.  The hope is that whatever is there falls away.

If the sensor is particularly dirty, you need to use a sensor cleaning kit.  They are not expensive.  The swabs are super soft and designed not to leave fibers.  You need to use a solution on the swab.  You apply sparingly.  Not dripping wet, but enough to help the swab glide over the sensor.  You move in even strokes, not in circles.  I'd also recommend wearing latex gloves.

What might be best is sending the body to Canon for inspection / repair.

Start by registering your body in the MyCanon portal

MyCanon

You can initiate a repair request there.  Use this as a guide.  A used T7 ranges $318 - $350.  If the repair exceeds the cost to replace, i'd go for a used body.  The other option is a mirrorless body and adapter so you can continue using your existing lenses.  Sorry about the camera.  Let us know the result.

Thank you for all the information you left for me, I decided to buy a new rebel T7. It was more cost efficient than getting a mirrorless because of all the existing lenses I have. I ordered the cleaning kit as well. Big lesson learned from today!!!! Again thank you

Having a cleaning kit does not mean you should use it routinely, or unless absolutely necessary. I don't have one and have never needed one.

In careful use, the sensor should not be getting anything on it except maybe a little dust. And the camera shakes dust off of the sensor when you turn it on and turn it off. Never touch the sensor with a finger or any dry object. Don't change lenses in a dusty or water-droplets-in-the-air environment.
