Canon r8 and HSS (high speed synchronization) flash

Hello!

Canon r8 doesn't have a fully mechanical shutter. 

So can I use it with Speedlite el-5 in HSS mode on fast shutter speeds (more than standart 1/200)?

Or in any case there will be banding and shading on pictures?

The manuals for both the EL-5 speedlite and the R8 mention high-speed synch flash settings, so I would think that it would work. I have neither unit, so I can only relate what is in the manuals. Search for high-speed sync in both manuals.
