Canon “new” camera q4 this year.

I don’t know if anyone follows rumors about canon, but I’m hoping the community here has an insider or two that can verify if an R1 mark ii or R3 mark ii is in the works? Canon has pledged support for the R3 which makes me think this is the camera especially since the R1 hasn’t been out very long. An R3 mark ii though doesn’t make sense to have in the lineup though given the specs of the R5 mark ii. Can anyone add light to this post? Personally, I see canon killing off the R3 line and maximizing their R1.

So after all of this Pentax talk (hope we don't get banned from the Canon forum - haha), what are your thoughts on the Pentax 17?

Personally, I like it a lot.  I've missed the half frame format (had an Olympus half frame in the 1980's).  It's also nice getting 78 shots out of a roll.  The only things I do not like is the zone focus is not very accurate when closer than about 8', and the mode dial often gets bumped (and moved accidentally) when advancing the film.  Overall, I think it's a great camera, but I'd like to hear your thoughts as another Pentax fan.

There's a lot to like about the 17 and a lot to dislike, though I agree with you. The detents of the mode dial are so soft that it is astoundingly easy to inadvertently change the mode when winding the film. The modes are also needlessly complicated. It needed P (program no flash), PF (program with flash), A (auto), and B (bulb). The LEDs (orange and blue) should be red and green. The distances should be viewable in the viewfinder NOT the stupid icons. That said, the lens is very sharp and the exposure is really accurate. I don't think it's worth $500, but I'm glad I have it.
