Hello, I am new to the canon cinema camera world but finally upgraded my r6 to a c80 for documentary work. (I was using Sonys fx3 and fx6 for doc filming)

does the c80 have view assist when shooting log?

Greetings,

View Assist should be available when shooting LOG except when False Color is selected.  The color space is approximate, so captured footage will appear differently in Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut , etc. I haven't reviewed all of the documentation for FW 1.0.1.1 which was released on the 19th of this month.

Sure it does, on the LCD, and the HDMI and SDI outputs, individually settable.  Just read the manual.  Page 156 should help.

Or, just browse through the menu.  The ViewAssist settings are on the 5th top tab, "Monitoring Setup", page 7.

Sadly, though, it looks like ViewAssist does not currently work in Playback or Preview modes, even on the built-in LCD, which is a bummer.  I'm hoping for a firmware fix for this.
