I have been having an impossible time finding the menu item to turn on the electronic level on the T8i. I go to MENU/Display level settings/OK/ and I see Shooting Screen Guided, Menu Display Guided, Mode Guide Enable, and Feature guide Enable. And I don't know where to go from there. I know I have to press the shutter button halfway to see the electronic level, but it does not work. I got so used to using the electronic level on my old SX50, but now I can't figure out how to enable it on the T8i. HELP!

gliebisch,
If you go to pp 667 and 668 of your manual, it will tell you how to enable your electronic level.
Basically, it involves going to your wrench settings (the group of settings in yellow), and scroll over to page 4. Choose the first setting called. Viewfinder Display. You can choose to either Hide or Show your Electronic Level.
If you choose to Show it, from that point on, your Electronic Level will show up as a little icon in the bottom left-hand corner of your viewfinder each time you half-press your shutter.
Also, as Rick mentioned, when you cycle through your Info button, it will show up on your screen.

Greetings,
Try using the Info button in still shooting mode.

The manual is your friend.

First of all, I was looking for a more prominent appearance of the level icon, such as a saw in my old SX50 which was larger and across the bottom of the viewfinder. The one here on T8i is very inconspicuous down in the left corner, and harder to see in low light because it is not illuminated at all. I also realized eventually that the camera must be in viewfinder mode in order to find the option in the "wrench" menu setting. My expectations coming from an SX50 are sometimes leading me astray...

gliebisch,
I have a T8i and like it very much.
If you ever have any questions, I'll be glad to help, if I can.

Not in this case. There is a DISPLAY LEVEL SETTINGS where I spent considerable time before giving up and only later found the ELECTRONIC LEVEL menu item, only to have it hidden when navigating menus on the LIVE screen!
