Both cameras do this regardless of setup or lens so I'm assuming this is a sensor or processor issue. Shooting birds such as red-tailed hawks. Poor AF. Pictures muddy. Many out of focus shots even if the bird is static, sitting perfectly still. I've tried every which way possible. Manual, auto, HTP on/off, dozens of shutter speeds, ISOs and exposure settings, metering, different lenses, different AF settings. It's like the AF cannot focus properly on subjects that have a lot of red or rust coloring. Both my R7 and R5M2 do this. On other birds like herons, swans, pelicans, ospreys, even very small birds like finches and chickadees this is not an issue. The more reddish or rust-colored the subject is, the worse it gets. I use either a 100-500L or a 200-800 telephoto, only shoot RAW, have tried every RAW converter program out there to try and clean the photos up without much luck.

Greetings,
It would be helpful for us to have some RAW examples. You can upload to a sharing service and post e link for us to look at.
