Canon R6mkii random glitching / switching between modes

So this just started happening and it's making it pretty impossible to shoot anything in video mode. It appears to be glitching out and switching between video and photo mode by itself back and forth. It also will switch from the pro video mode to the not great video mode that happens when you record video while in photo mode.

Anyone have any ideas? I have several paid commercial shoots coming up this week and next and I'm a bit worried lol. Here'a a youtube link to a quick shot of it while it's being glitchy. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ar2Q6CnrnL8

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Of course there are things you could try but I suspect it needs to go back to Canon for repair.  I suggest you plan on renting a camera for your work in the meantime.  Things to try that IMO aren't likely to work:

  1. Switching in and out of video mode - this may indeed make things worse as the most likely culprit is that switch knob and any contacts.  But it's worth a try.
  2. I'm assuming you are using only Canon-branded batteries.  Putting in a different Canon-branded battery is worth a try.  Non-Canon-branded batteries are known to not work properly in that camera.
  3. Update the firmware - wholly unlikely, but always best to be on the latest firmware.
  4. Reset the camera.  Again, an unlikely fix, but work a try.
  5. Call Canon - I suspect they may walk you through some of their steps, but that they will want the camera sent in.
