Is the red light on the back of the camera blinking?

Do you have a control lock that might be engaged?

Is it a full size card or a micro-SD with adapter?

The EOS Rebel 2000 is an EOS Film body. Let’s confirm with the OP that it’s the EOS 2000D/ Rebel T7. Not an old EOS film body. Canon never released a Digital Rebel 2000 in North America. But they released a Rebel T7/ EOS 2000D.

Hi! The EOS 2000D is the EOS Rebel T7 and the EOS 1500D: https://w.wiki/CSBK

Confusing, huh?

Yes it is some names do repeat in the EOS film and digital era. Like the Rebel XS film camera and a digital version was released with the same name.
