I teach Photography in a High School. I have all Canon Cameras and I have one that currently will not focus. I've watched videos on cleaning them and I've done that and it still won't focus. I'd love to not have to buy a new camera if this one could be fixed.

It appears--based on my search--that the T5 is no longer repaired by Canon.
If funds are available for replacement an R100 kit would be a good equivalent for students.
Perhaps someone will have a possible quick solution.
Have you switched out the battery? I ask that because my R8 acts demon possessed (won't focus is one of the maladies) when the battery is low. Perhaps the battery is defective???

Are you sure it is the camera and not the lens?
What happens when you ask it to focus?
Does it focus in Live View?
If you are adventurous, you could try cleaning the focus chip at the bottom of the mirror box.

What lens are you using? Are you able to manually focus the lens?

What is it you cleaned to make it focus?
