I am using an external GPS Device and have the camera set to that use via the Wireless > 1 > GPS Device Settings > Select GPS Device = GPS Receiver.
I know that the external geotagger, Solmeta GMAX-EOS2 and EOS R5 are working together as I can see the log/lat in the info data for images on the camera and the data is in the EXIF data for images when they are downloaded.
I just cant see them live in the Viewfinder or LCD screen as I've thought I've seen them in numerous video tutorials.

None of the cameras show live GPS data in the viewfinder or on the LCD while shooting.
When reviewing images, you can view the GPS info in the detailed info display. When reviewing images press INFO until the detailed info appears as shown below. Then use the joystick to move down to the panel that shows GPS info. I don't have an image with GPS info unfortunately.
If you cannot find the GPS info, it might need to be activated on the camera playback information displays. These screens are from EOS R6, but similar for most other R-series cameras.

Only times I see the coordinates are when I am in the GPS menu or in playback mode. Perhaps I haven't learned all the settings yet...
In the viewfinder I only see the GPS sign to the right.
Can you point to a video that shows what you mean?

I'll go hunting...
Peter: how long have you had the Canon EOS R5? How much of the display and menus do you think are like former Canon cameras?
I had a Canon 5D Mark IV previous to this camera but only for a year and half.

I have R6 that should work the same as R5 about GPS. Previously I had 6D.

Thanks, I was coming to that conclusion. In video tutorials the cameras get waved around without always explaining where they are in the display.
Another question, in your last image, I see 10 options, I only have 6 including the zero info screen.

Potentially you might have confused the difference between the playback display settings with 10 options that I showed in the captures above, and the Shooting info disp. settings that are on the shoot menus where the EOS R5 has 6 possible shooting info screen options.
I don't have an EOS R5 to hand, but I have just checked the latest manual for it from the Canon site and the EOS R5 has 11 playback options, not 10.
