Hello guys and thanks,
Some of the videos I record with the R10 won't play on any software (VLC, BS player, windows media player) on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10).
Any solution or even an explanation to why this happens?
Appreciate the help 🙂

Greetings,
Like any file, you need to have an application installed and associated with the file type you want to open, or play.
Windows and MAC both include applications which are part of the operating systems that might support these file types without the need to install something additional. It depends on the format and type of file.
What type of video file are you trying to play? What format is it? I suspect .mp4? What settings are you using for video? Do you receive any error messages when attempting to open the file(s)?

Hi Rick,
* The video file is: MP4 Video File (VLC) (.MP4)
(or it could be MRL)
(But most of the videos (also MP4) work properly - this is only the second time I experience this issue. That's why I'm confused)
* This is the error message on the VLC player:
"Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/Users/Daniel/Desktop/Rd171%2027.10.23/MVI_0681.MP4'. Check the log for details"
* I will attach the video settings I use if that's ok.
When I checked for available drivers for my specific camera (EOS R10), on the official website, there's nothing to download. Then I tried to download canon utility drive (for canon EOS R cameras, not for my specific camera) but it doesn't seem to help in any way.

Hi rick,
I will have to reply in several messages because I get invalid HTML
* Type of file: MP4 Video File (V L C) (.MP4)
Thing is I can use these files on my laptop usually, this is the third time I have this issue with a video.

I tried to look for drivers for my specific camera on the official website but there's nothing to download...

There could be many reasons to explain why you're getting the "input can't be opened" error:

That's an odd path. Where is the file actually? Move it out of whatever folder it is in, to the desktop, and rename it something simple (keeping the .mp4 extension). See if it opens in VLC.

Do the files play correctly in the camera?
I also find the path name to be a little unusual. Try replacing the period characters with minus signs. Replace the space with an underscore.
Or, just create another folder on your desktop named “Test”. No spaces, just letters.

Thank you normadel and Waddizzle,
the files are saved on the desktop.
I tried these actions:
* Save the files on the desktop, in a different folder, and changed the files name.
* Save the files on another internal storage, and change the names.
* Save the files on an external storage, and change the names.
I'm not sure I understood exactly when to use a minus or an underscore, but I used letters and minuses and underscores - each try.
Can you tell me what's the "path name" of my files? Is it "MVI_111"? Because all the files I transfer from the camera are saved as MVI_111, and most of them work perfectly.
