Canon EOS R10 videos won't play on Dell Inspiron 3543

Hello guys and thanks,

Some of the videos I record with the R10 won't play on any software (VLC, BS player, windows media player) on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10).

Any solution or even an explanation to why this happens?

Appreciate the help 🙂

There could be many reasons to explain why you're getting the "input can't be opened" error:

  • The file is not actually there.  Be sure the in your "Daniel" folder within "Users", there is a "Rd171 2027.10.23" folder and a "MVI_0681.MP4" file within that.
  • The software you're using doesn't have access or permissions to access that file.
  • The MVI_0681.MP4 file is corrupted somehow.
  • The software is having issues with spaces in folder or file names.  It's replacing the space in your "Rd171 2027.10.23" folder with "%20" which is a valid thing to do, but it may be tripping up the software.  Rename that folder to either remove the space or replace it with an underscore.  e.g. "Rd171_2027.10.23"
  • The software for some reason is using very old logic and cannot work with folder names longer that 8 characters.  Hoping this is not the case.  But you could try renaming your "Rd171 2027.10.23" folder to something like "MOVIES".
