I've had my used D30 about a year now. Haven't used it for a few weeks. I went to power it up and it wouldn't resond. Charged battery, tried again and nothing. So, I purchased two new batteries, charged them and put one in - nothing. What can the matter be? Any help appreciated as I really like the camera.

The battery door, and memory card door, both have small micro switches which can sometimes malfunction. Either one would prevent the camera from powering up.

Where exactly are these micro switches and is there anything I can do to remedy the situation?

Your camera may be a little different, but this is what they look like on a 5D Mk III.
All you can really do is check that the switches are intact, and that hey are making contact when the door is closed.
