Canon 7D Mark ii and W-E1

I'm  new here, but not new to Canon products.  I purchased the W-E1 with a lot of assumptions having used an eye-fi card years ago.  I assumed that I would still have control over my camera and the pictures I would be taking with transfer to my iPad.  That doesn't seem to be the case.  What device allows the images to immediately be viewable on my iPad as I shoot portraits, so I can get a feel for how they look and/or make for happy parents?  Thanks!

Are you using the Canon Camera Connect App?

Yes. It works great for transferring pictures, but unless you want to use a tripod, it really isn't what I expected.
