Canon 7D If I use an external microphone will the LCD be disabled?

An external microphone should have no effect on the LCD screen.

However, the HDMI port can detect when a cable is plugged into it, and when it does, it will re-route the video from the LCD to the HDMI port, which blanks the LCD.
