Greetings,
That camera was made long before 128GB cards were available. I would suggest using a 32GB card or less in that body. Here is the product manual for the XS-1000D:

The Digital Rebel XS is compatible with SDHC cards. The max size for an SDHC card is 32GB. This camera was retired in 2015 and is no longer eligible for support from Canon USA.

I am having the same issue, in addition i wanted to upgrade the firmware to 1.07 but i cannot find a link to that software anywhere even though it's referenced all over the place online. and even on the support pages it talks about that download and link.. but it's not there. I dont want to buy another camera i just want this one working...

Also, what is wrong with the camera? Rebel firmware downloads fix very specific things, and don't add functionality. If you are having an issue, unless it is specifically addressed by the firmware update, I can guarantee it won't fix the issue.

Greetings,
After searching, it does not appear that Canon is hosting FW downloads for the XS any longer.
Every Canon site I visited didn't have it listed. You have 2 choices. Contact support and hope they can provide v1.07 to you, or accept some risk and download from a 3rd party. I do not typically recommend this. But...It depends on how much time you want to spend hunting down FW for a 14 yr old camera. Sorry this does not have a quick solution.
