Right now I am traveling and ot seems the mode button is not working. I can not have a choice to us anything but P mode. Autofocus is also a bit unstable. Nothing has happened to the camera vi or lens (100-500 mm). I have tried to reset settings. And also to take out battery etc.

Sorry to hear about your problem. A reset should include both camera and custom C1~C3 settings reset. Now remove the lens. Power on and test changing modes. If the behavior has not changed, the camera will require service.

Yes, remove the lens AND and lens mount adapters.
