C Log and 10 Bit on Canon Eos R50

Why can't Canon SELL US Clog 3 and 10 bit for EOS R50 owners? No way I'm buying a new R50v. They did this to us with the M50 when they made the M50 mark 2 Could have EASILY just sold us a firmware uopdate! I want the clog and 10 bit and I'm willing to pay for it!

Greetings boreynolds,

I think making some minor adjustments to your your investment strategy might help get you a body that does what you want and need.  I also saw your post in regards to APS-C lenses.  Both Canon and Sigma offer quite a few APS-C lenses.  The M series was limited from a lens selection standpoint.  While you could open it up with an adapter, this did not represent a viable long term solution.

Now you have the R50, a stills-centric camera that doesn't have the video capabilities you were hoping for. Why not sell your R50 and pick up the camera that does what you need it to do (R50v).  The sale of the R50 will offset the purchase of the new body that does exactly what you want.

I purchased the R50v at the beginning of the month.  Decent for the money, and does just about everything the R50 does with the enhanced video capability.  It doesn't have an EVF or flash, but does boast a faster USB port, dual band wireless, video oriented controls, clog3 and automatic vertical shooting if you want to do shorts.  I picked it up with the PZ lens so I could get the full experience.  The power zoom thing is different but cool on a MILC body.  I may throw a RF 24 f1.8 on it and call it a day since my other lenses are f2.8.  You've got some options and some things to consider.  🤔

I appreciate the info.... I just get mad everytime canon pulls this crap like they did with UPGRADE yo the M50 but you're right, Canon will FORCE ME to make ANOTHER purchase just to get 10bit and CLOG. I should be used to it by now OR switch to Sony

The ZVE10 mKII does not compare to the R50v in price or performance. Canon really nailed it with this body.

Actually, now that I've thought about it, I think I'll  do to Canon what Canon has been doing to their customer base for years and just sell my R50 and buy the Sony FX30. After all, DJI and Sony Give THEIR customers  SO MUCH MORE for their money so I already  ordered the Osmo Pocket 3 with MECHANIC AL stabilization, DLOG M AND 4k 60, 4k 120 and SONY gives 4k 60 with SLOG SO....Bye bye Canon. Put your RF 18-45 ya know, the UPGRADE to the M50 Mark 2 kit lens in your pipe and smoke it! I'm out!!!!!

YES! You're absolutely right although, I still like the r50 for photo for thumbnails so I'll probably buy the r50v for better video and the r50 for the evf. I appreciate your suggestion, thank you. (I just hate to give Canon another 800 bucks for doing this. But, they're not a "Non Profit" so, I get it. Thanks again.

Bo
