Currently my 1dx focus' with both back button and shutter.
Do I need to turn off shutter function for focusing, or does it not matter, or does it conflict when using the back button for focusing.
Thanks

I think most users disable the AF on the shutter button for BBF mode.

If you don't, the shutter button will override any focus achieved by use of the back button.
Newbies should beware and read the manual very carefully. BB focus isn't nearly as simple as it appears to be at first glance. You have to worry about when and how metering gets initiated as well as about getting the desired focusing behavior. And well-intentioned users will recommend various idiosyncratic settings, some of which deliberately reverse the default behavior of certain buttons, that can add considerably to the confusion if one isn't careful.
