Aperture Malfunction EOS R

gears4steam
Contributor

eos r aperture locked on f8-11.
no matter what lense I use, it only offers a limited aperture of f8-11.
I discovered this when I was trying to set my 35mm macro to a f1.8, and realized my Canon EOS R no longer allows this setting.
Then I noticed ALL my lens were limited to f8-11.
What is Canon doing to remedy this?
I took it to Precision Camera here in Austin, and they said they come across this quite often, but have no idea how to correct this.
We did a Factory reset and update the firmware, but no results.
Any ideas?
Will Canon offer help for this manufacture defect?

Greetings ,

The appropriate steps would be to register the camera in your MyCanon account. Create a service request and send the camera to Canon for inspection.

I've not heard of this behavior, so I cannot confirm a "defect".  Once the camera has been inspected, you'll receive your support or repair options.

Hi and welcome to the forum:
Can you please be precise as to what make and model of lenses you are having this issue with?

As my respected colleague Rick has indicated, this in not something that has ever been reported in our experience and the logical steps are to contact Canon for support.  If you would like to discuss this with a Canon service support person, call 1-800-OK-CANON.

The camera body is Canon EOS R, lenses are all Canon: 16,35,50,85,24-105mm, and Sigma 14-24 art landscape lens.  I mentioned "any lens" meaning every lens, I mounted on the camera, I got the same read on the Aperture as f8-11, in  all shooting modes FV, P,Tv, Av and Manual.

With the exception of A+ "Scene Intelligent Auto", then the Auto kicks in and allows the full range of Aperture.
