Hello everyone.
I'm posting here hoping to find someone who can help me.
I recently got a 6D mark 2 to shoot my videos and it was all fine. Last night I was asked to take some photos during a meeting but I immediatly saw the lack of quality in all of them. I can't explain this absence of details even in the darkest enviroment or with the slowest shutter...

But that's not the only thing wrong with the photo - areas on his face and hair look really weird, like digitally smoothed where there wasn't enough light. You might be right about using a higher ISO, but that doesn't change the fact that parts of this photo looks weirdly smudged regardless of how dark or light you adjust it.

I get results like this with both my 50mm 1.8 and 100mm 2.8L - it's not their lens. it's something weird with the camera!

It isn't about the settings, the photos look digitally smudged. There's something wrong with the camera in low-light settings that doesn't happen with other cameras...if you can't see it then i don't know what to say. It looks off, and i've had the same experience.

did you ever figure out what it was? I'm having the same issue!

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I'm having this same exact issue!
...and all the people gaslighting and being condescending in these comments is SO lame. Like, it's not a flex that they can't see the problem that we're CLEARLY seeing. maybe they just don't have "the eye" 😉

Thank you for pointing out the bad behavior of some of these people people. It’s hard to imagine that people would have such poor attitudes in a user support forum. 🙂
You described perfectly the issue. It’s like I would get random blotches in a photo. Literally, blotches. It definitely is not a depth of field issue or motion blur . It’s weird. Unfortunately, I was never able to completely resolve the issue; however, I was able to make it a little better by adjusting settings in my camera. And honestly, I can’t even tell you what it was I adjusted in my camera, because I tweaked all sorts of stuff. Therefore, it’s something inside of your camera, the settings, that need to be adjusted. However, I still do not trust this camera in low-lit environments for important shoots.
I am guessing that if enough people have this issue, then somebody will actually come up with the way to resolve it. In the meantime, good luck to you and happy shooting!

The blurry parts of this photo are because they are out of the depth of focus. A full frame camera with a large aperture (small f/number) has a very shallow depth of field. The camera is focused on the person's ear. The left hand and watch on the wrist as well as the left knee are in front of the depth of focus so are blurry. The right knee is on the same plane as the ear so it is in focus. The back corner of the glasses, right shoulder and arm are behind the depth of focus and are starting to become blurry. Please Google 'Depth of Field' for more information.

It definitely is a DEPTH OF FIELD ISSUE.

It is not “blurry”. It is weird random spots that are blotchy, like a smudge, like a watercolor effect. THAT is the issue.
If you are confident that you know the answer, then can you tell us why there are blotchy smudgy spots instead of blurry spots, which would be a clear indication of a depth of field issue? And by the way, when I do have a depth of field issue, they do not occur in the same areas of the image that is blotches in smudges are appearing. Again, they are smudgy marks, like a watercolor effect. I’ve never had a watercolor effect when using my other camera. It is only with this Mark II 6D camera. And the other folks who’ve chimed in are describing the same exact issue.

Specify what specific part of the photo that you think has a blotchy smudge. Keep in mind the further the out of the depth of focus the more distorted something becomes. That is why the left little finger looks distorted.
