I'm a new 5D Mark iii owner. I'm wanting to get some good shots of my nephew playing basketball. Any suggestions on preferred setting to get clear shots. Thanks!

" I have been bumping up my ISO in dark gyms to 3200 to even 5000 ..."
You understand stops require a doubling to gain a stop? If you were at ISO 3200 then you would need to set it to 6400 for a one stop gain. Meaning, going from 3200 to 5000 isn't a big change. Probably not a make or break change.

I'm just bumping it up to what I think is a bearable amount of noise to help eek out as fast of a shutter as possible. And I'm underexposing a little at the same time so that I can have a fast enough shutterspeed. Then fixing the exposure a bit in LR. I am finding that I need to be 1/1000 to freeze the action. But anyway, Tim Campbell's post was extremely helpful. I changed the settings and will try it out at my next game.

OK that is fine just keep in mind, 3200 to 5000 will not get you up to the next fastest stop in SS. Sometimes every little bit helps, though.
