1DX Mark II continuous IS on in liveview

Hi, when using the viewfinder the IS comes on in a lens when u press the shutter down half way and goes off when u take ur finger off, which is great. Annoyingly simply going into liveview activates IS continuously (photos or video) even stays on if u go into menu screens, only turns off if u exit liveview. Is there any way to make it work like the viewfinder and when liveview shooting it only activates IS when u press the shutter? I have one of those nice big white lenses and I don't like the IS mechanism continuously running as everything has a lifespan so don't want it drained when not needed. Right now I work around it by constantly turning it on or off on the lens, which sucks, there are other things I want to think about during a shoot, like shooting

Thanks for any help!

You should be able to go into the "Custom Controls" menu and set up a button as "IS Start", very much like you can set a button as "AF Start" [ a.k.a. BBF].  I am not certain what effect it would have in Live View mode, though.

In one of the Movie/LiveView menus look for Continuos AF Enable/Disable.

Thanks, tried both, both didn't work. Setting a button for IS start just took it away from the shutter where it already is and it's good there, and no effect in live view

Continuous AF doesn't affect IS, still always on with AF on or off

Looks like its not possible:
