01 error on a t1i.

I have cleaned the contacts several times with no luck any suggestions on what I can do next.

To do some systematic troubleshooting, I'd recommend finding a lens that is known to work, and trying that on your T1i body.  Likewise, try the lens that gives an error on another (borrowed) camera body. 

This will give a clue whether its the lens or the camera body that is the root cause.
