To all RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM owners...: Firmware update reminder

Hello to all Shutter Nutters,

I updated my FR24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens today and as always, it was a stroll in the park, with no hassles at all.

So I'm now reminding all RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens owners, that have not yet updated the firmware on your lense to the new Firmware Update Version 2.0.7 - File Name rf241054-v207,win,zip, do so now.  You'll be better for it.

Cheers,
Joe

There is not an update for the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 lens, which is why you are not seeing the firmware update when you search for it with that lens attached. The firmware update number you gave is for a different lens.

Hey Gary,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm actually trying to update the firmware of my RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM mentioned in the topic. After selecting firmware, I'm not seeing the option to update the lens firmware. I don't even see an option to view which firmware the lens is currently using. I only attached the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 to see if I could see what firmware that lens has, but I don't see the option to view it either. Shouldn't I be able to see the current firmware of any Canon RF lens within the R5 C photo menu?

I'm trying to remember how I enabled my camera to show the lens firmware version because that was a while ago, and I do own other brands of cameras. I think with Canon I went to the menu, and looked up "Menu Display" in the first section, and changed it from "Guided" to "Standard".

If that doesn't work... at least we know it does for some other brand - lol. Give it a try, and let me know.

I finally figured out how to view the current lens firmware and update it on a Canon R5 C. Unlike most Canon cameras, the R5 C lens firmware can only be updated while in VIDEO mode. All my online and AI searches were steering me in the wrong direction by directing me to update both camera and lens firmware via PHOTO mode where I could not see any info regarding lens firmware. All good now.
