Support on Lens Bought Overseas

Aztrukk

Hi, I was wondering if I could get any product warranty/support in the U.S. on a lens if I bought it in Korea.
I’m a student in U.S. going back to Korea every summer, and I won’t be using this lens until summer if I bought it now in America. Should I still buy it here and let it sit? Thank you!

As far as I am aware, warranties are regional.  So, if you live in the US, a lens bought in the US (and likely Canada) would be covered by warranty.  If bought in Korea, that warranty is unlikely.  You may be able to get it serviced at a cost if you do have an issue.   If the lens is much cheaper over there then you can buy it and take the risk, but if you want the benefit of a full year's warranty in the US, then you may have to get it on your return.
I live in NZ and my warranty clearly states it is valid only for NZ and Australia, for example.
