Focus Screens and AF Confirmation Chip for Manual Lens

AnnaMc

Hello!

I have a Rebel T100 and I'd like to try the manual Rokinon 85mm F1.4 Aspherical Lens (Canon EF mount). The reviews for the lens mention using an Ee-s focus screen and installing an AF confirmation chip on the lens. My two questions:

1. Can the focus screen be replaced on the Rebel T100?

2. Is there some sort of adaptor that I can use that already has a the AF confirmation chip built in? Or is the best route to glue the chip to the lens as I've seen in the YouTube videos?

Many thanks!

Are you sure you have a Rebel T100, I can't find such a model on the Canon site?

Pretty sure that none of the Digital Rebels have a user changeable focus screen.

Thank you for your response.  The camera says RebelT100 on the front.  I'm attaching a pic of the camera.

Not available for T100.

Thanks John! Any guidance on number 2?

I don’t have any direct experience with the chips, but the concept looks interesting. From what I read Dandelion brand is the one most folks seem to recommend.

The T100 is an entry level DSLR.  It’s the most bare bones model I’ve seen from Canon.

1.  The focus screen in the T100 is not user friendly or replaceable.

2.   There are no adapters that can add focus confirmation to a fully manual lens.

Do not attempt to modify gear for use with your camera.  The camera is not as powerful and feature packed as its bigger brothers.

I have installed “Dandelion” AF chips on Manual focus lenses, and I don’t really find them all that usefull. Precise focus is still difficult to obtain. Especially with fast lenses with large apertures, like your 85mm f/1.4

I find it much better to use LiveView with 10x magnification.
