Hi i recently bought a 5d mkiii and the first lens i have purchades is a helious 44 58mm f2 in very good condition but I am currently unable to use it because the camera just sticks on a yellow wanring when turned on that lens firmware update is required. I have updated the camera firmware ans this made no difference at all.  I am using a metal m44 threat to canon eos adapter witht he connection pad on it.

any help would be much appreciated.

Well I know one of the responders has passed away and the other is inactive. That's the problem with these old threads.

This thread is still useful and should remain open.  There are sure to be others who will experience the same problem if they use this type of adapter with a Canon camera with lens firmware updating ability.

My answer isn't for anyone in this thread previously. My answer is for people who search the issue in Google and this thread pops up, like I did just a couple days ago. These threads act as repositories of knowledge for people looking for answers to problems, and since no one gave any solutions other than buying a new adapter, and I found one, I figured I'd try and be helpful to anyone on the future, so I made a profile just to share a work around. Didn't expect someone was going to have an issue with me trying to help people who might also stumble on this forum while having the same problem.

Thank your for taking the time for joining and for your participation and contributions to the old thread, Mister Macdudal.
